In case of DP drive MEChanisms, the energy required for their operation is built up through the simultaneous compression of two springs.
This spring compression can be achieved by manual operation (using the operating handle), or by motor operation (using either 24 V AC/DC, 48 V AC/DC, 110 V AC/DC or 220 V AC/DC).
Any motor-operated drive MEChanisms may, at any time, be operated manually as well. To achieve this, the operating handle is placed on the operating shaft of the RV44 load-break switch, after which a slight pressure is applied to the handle in order to release the connection between the operating shaft and the motor.
| drive MEChanisme | function load-break switch | function earthing switch | manual operation | motor operation |

| DP-M-MEC | X | X | X* | X |
| DP-A-MEC | X | X | X | - |

In case of the DP-MEC and the DP-M-MEC, the load-break switch is switched on (closed) directly, either manually (DP-MEC), or by the motor (DP-M-MEC).
In case of the DP-A-MEC and the DP-A-M-MEC, the load-break switch is switched on (closed), by means of a rotary knob or a closing coil, after the springs have been released.
